1st Annual Pens and Patterns Zentangle® Show
I am amazed at the beautiful ways people use the Zentangle® Method in their lives. For two days, I have received the entries to my 1st annual Pens and Patterns Zentangle® Show. The amazing creations brought to me are as follows: a delicate mobile, a tribute to recovery, a celebration of survival, turned wooden angels, faces, animals, and such beautiful use of color. I'm glad for judge Suzanne McNeill. I have too much awe in my eyes to pick the "best of" anything. If you are in the area, you really should come by to see this wonderful art.
Rick and Maria, your 3 1/2 inch tile has come a very long way.
May I send out a great big "Thank You" to those who have entered.
If you missed it this year, plan to take part in 2015. I'm sure it will be even more "awe"mazing!

Two Day Zentangle Workshop
A 2 day workshop. August 9th and 10th. Each day started at 10am and ended at 4pm. Four sessions taking in Zentangle 101, 102-I, 102-II and ZIA (see class list for explanation). Taught 24 tangles to 8 students. Some of them brand new to this beautiful art form. For the ZIAs, we used two 9x12 Bristol boards, one for the Dallas skyline for Friday homework and one to trace both hands during the last session.
They were quite complimentary on the class, on Zentangle and on me as a teacher. Wooohooo!
It was a fantastic 2 days. One of the highlights (of which there were many) happened on the first day. They had just learned 6 tangles and were busy applying them to a tile, I announced it was time for lunch and NOBODY MOVED for at least another 15 minutes. They were loving it!
This is the 3rd "class" I have held and after this one.....I am ready for pretty much anything.
Students and Teta ... if you are reading this, please know how much I appreciate YOU for this wonderful experience.

The First Class was Fantastic!
I had 17 people sign up and 21 showed up. It went really well. I was told by a few that I am a good teacher. Just what I needed. I even had a student design her own tangle. Another student had purchased some books (which I don't have yet) and I was able to show them around the room. All in all it was a great first class. Many of them said they would be attending the second "church" class I will give this Thursday and some voiced interest in the workshop I plan for August. I'm happy!
I don't have times for other classes yet because I won't be in my new place until after the first of August.
I plan on getting with other artists in the area and creating a sort of walk around workshop in the future. Spend a couple hours with me, then move to the next teacher and learn watercolor or collage or anything they want to share. There are many opportunities in the mall where I have my studio. First Class
Well, tomorrow I give my first Zentangle class. It is for the Women's Circle at the Center for Spiritual Living in Dallas. I am both excited and scared. Best thing about this class is I'm pretty sure I know or have at least already met all of the 17 women who have signed up.
I've been working all morning to make a checklist list, assemble my class kits, make a signup sheet for my workshop in August, practice the tangles I will be teaching, practice some of the words I will be saying, look through the notes I have from Providence, get my for sale items set up and, and, and...
It will all work out, it will all work out, it will all work out. I love to teach, I love to teach, I love to teach. I know my stuff, I know my stuff, I know my stuff. I'M EXCITED!!!!

On Becoming a Certified Zentangle Teacher (CZT)
I met Sandhya Manne CZT when I joined an art group in my area. She had just completed the zentangle seminar given by Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas, originators of the zentangle method, when she was asked by the group to give a workshop on this new and wonderful art form. I attended the workshop and have been hooked ever since. That was 2 years ago.
Becoming a CZT myself had been out of reach due to the fact I am in Texas and the training takes place in Providence, RI. I had all kinds of excuses: I can't leave work, I don't have the money, it's too far to travel, I don't want to go by myself, etc., etc., etc. But recently, my wishes were granted and I was able to attend CZT 11in June 2013. AND...I traveled with my closest friend and turned the trip into a vacation enhanced by the fact that I am originally from the area. We left 4 days before the seminar and enjoyed traveling around the area.
The seminar was an amazing journey into the world of Rick and Maria. I met an amazing group of soon to be CZTs. Students had traveled from places such as South Africa, India and Taiwan. (I thought Texas was far away) I can't even give you a glimpse of my excitement when the seminar was over and I could finally say I was a CZT! WooooHoooo!
